Rich and Terri won’t brag on themselves, so it is up to me, their Webmaster, to tell you that they’ve done it again. Pinkys Cafe took top honors in The Livingston’s Current Best of Livingston annual Reader’s Poll again this year:

Pinky’s also ranked in top three for Best Sandwich and Best Place to Dine Alone (trust me, if you want to break out of your solo routine, you’ll find plenty of friendly folks to chat with if you choose), as well as too many Also Noteds to mention here.

The Current featured the Bests in interviews in the November 15, 2010 issue, and here is the one with Terri and Rich (with my apologies for the dicey scanning of the text). At the Livingston Current’s annual Halloween Bash, Rich channelled his inner Leon Russell as The Fossils perfomed and the always lively crowd danced and danced.

Rich to be the piano man at a silent film screening at The Depot June 15

“Movies at the Museum”:

The Livingston Depot Museum will have a screening of two vintage railroad films from the 1920s and ’30s this Thursday, July 15, 2010, from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM.

First up is the 1923 Classic silent film “The Railroad Men” with live piano by Rich “Pinky” Ruggles in the garb and manner of the old silent movie house piano player.

A second film, “The Phanton Express,” a talkie, will follow.

In the “The Railroad Men,” the hero, a railroad telegrapher, falls in love with the railroad president’s daughter. “The Phantom Express” (1932) is about a series of mysterious rail accidents that may be linked to raiders trying to buy the railroad.

Refreshments, too! Ice cold beer and popcorn.

The Livingston Depot Center is at 200 W. Park Street and admission to the movies is free.

Pinky’s on Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservations”

Pinky’s Cafe was one of Anthony Bourdain’s stops in his Montana episode of “No Reservations” aired in August 2009. The crew videotaped Terri, staff, and friends making the pasties, and then Tony and Dan Larhen came by for lunch and enjoyed homemade pasties.

Terri makes traditional pasties with her twist on what was once the staple of miners in Butte.

The Pinky’s Cafe segment starts at about 6:50 into the video.
